Threesome Sex Ideas: Stories, Statistics, Terminology

Talking about threesome and proposing it is a thing not so common. Those wanting to deal with embarrassment and other emotions associated with this delicate subject may use the following ideas to start a dialogue on threesome:

  • The unique language that is used by people who practice 3some.
  • Statistics – the things about threesome that sociologists are interested in.
  • Funny threesome stories - something that participants of the juicy process share.

Threesome terminology

Using slang when talking about sex can make a proposal less straightforward and give you an idea of whether the partner has ever been interested in threesome (so that he is therefore more predisposed to gaining such experience) or if it is a story that is not new to him.

ménage à trois

is a set phrase that literally means "life for three". The term is used to denote a threesome, but bear in mind other possible variants of interpretation in case you want to propose it in French :).

trip à trois

(threesome journey) is another French and pleasing to the ear expression to designate threesome, a phrase that is commonly used in Quebec.

threesome

if you happen to hear "would you like to have a threesome?" remember this to be a proposal of having sex with three partners involved. In Germany and France this term is used along with their national "Flotter Dreier" and "le triolisme" respectively.

threesome-close

a level of friendship implying that being involved in a threesome is possible, or that such experience has already been acquired.

devil's Pitchfork

threesome that involves men only.

angel's Threesome

when we speak about threesome it is the angel’s threesome that we most usually mean, that is, the experience implying participation of two women and one man (the 2:1 female to male ratio).

devil's threesome

means a threesome of one girl and two boys. You must admit that it sounds much more ‘mouthwatering’ than MFM or a ‘sandwich’!

sandwich

a way they call a position in that a woman enjoys the process between two men, and all participants are parallel to each other.

chinese finger trap

is a threesome pose in that a woman is perpendicular to two men, taking one with her mouth and other with her vagina. If two men doing the "Chinese finger trap" touch each other with open palms (give the “high five”) the position shall be referred to as

"tour de Eiffel"

However, some women treat this pose negatively because they suspect the admirers of “tour de Eiffel” to be somewhat under-intelligent :).

mixed-gender sex or multi-person sex

is an official, academic designation for a threesome, the term that is used in surveys and studies.

Threesome statistics

I’ve searched through public domain to have found only 3 studies on threesome done in the past 15 years – probably the idea of investigating threesome does not seem so appealing to sexologists.

The Journal of Bisexuality in 2014 published some statistics on triolism studies. According to their findings:

  • the number of men who would agree to have FMF is 3 times as much as that of women open for the MFM experience.
  • only 2% of surveyed women had the experience of MFM sex.
  • 10% of the surveyed men confirmed having a threesome in the FMF format.

The authors of the survey explained a very low percentage of women willing to try MFM by social taboo imposed on threesome (or suggested they simply had not confessed). And I always bear in mind the assumption that by presenting the interest to be that low they pursue the aim of showing the general public to have no interest for threesome, and thus set at ease those of the community who consider the ethics of the Victorian era to be perfect and worry that there are too many people around desiring to try something non-traditional :).

The study called Heterosexual Young Adults' Interest (conducted in Canada in 2016) reveals more optimistic figures - 24% of men and 8% of women admitted to having a threesome experience. A quarter of those who had threesome tried both MFM and FMF variants. A half of them had FMF only, 17% tried only MFM, while 64% of the respondents reported their interest in engaging in a threesome.

The statistics I had found seemed to be incredibly poor, thus I ventured to question my friends, the dwellers of megacities aged 25 to 37. It has turned out that 28% of them had the experience of threesome in different variants. You can follow the experiment of questioning the friends to create the statistics of your own!

Short threesome stories

Here are some true threesome stories from the process participants that I have happened to overhear:

3some incident

Once I had a 3some in my grandparents’ house in the way the mattress springs became thereafter useless. It wasn’t easy to explain to my grandma why we needed buying a new mattress.

3some and bisexuality

Me and my partner ventured upon ménage a trois to ignite sexual drive in our couple. In the end I noticed that it was the body of the woman that made me really horny, and it was she who actually fanned the flame of our desire even more.

3some with ex-boyfriend

Here is my story of a threesome that featured my girlfriend and her ex. He was twice my size. It was interesting to see the way he caressed her, the way she was getting relaxed in his huge arms. Now I understand why women like big men.

The best experience

The first threesome that my wife and I had turned out to be our best sexual experience that has surprisingly improved our relationship. We saw each other in a new light to find fresh ideas of taking pleasure from each other.

No place for goddesses

I was astonished to have found threesome replete with a great many sounds and strange positions that have nothing to do with what I've seen in porn :). MFM is not a story about two guys admiring you. In fact it is an intense and "comprehensive" experience that is not meant for the faint-hearted ).

Now that you have read the article down to the last phrase, you have the asset that shall help you start or extend communication about threesome - the knowledge of terms and topics that you can start from to dive into. More ideas – in article "Cultivating Sexual Desire In Monogamous Relationship".
